I thought maybe I'd be kicked out by now....

But. Look. I. Have. Started! I am trying the magic loop method on this one! Let's see how it goes when I come up to the fingies!

Magic Loop

I keep reading about the Magic Loop method instead of DPNs. I haven't tried it yet (need to get some long needles) but I was wondering if it would work for these cigar gloves. And no, haven't even thought about starting them yet even though I've had my yarn for more than a month!

Round 2 starting soon!

Hi everyone!

I will be starting my second pair of Cigar gloves soon. I've got a sweater (Mariah) to finish up this weekend and then I will be working on another pair soon. I bought the colors used in the original pattern this time around and bought enough for a balaclava too. I'm very excited for this matching set--it'll make a great Christmas gift I think.

Am I the only one starting a second pair?

Hello?

Hello everybody!

No activity in awhile!

What is everybody's progress? Anyone start a second set yet?

I haven't because I have been too distracted by my new sweater. But I would really like to make myself a pair.

My husband went hunting this weekend for the first time this season. He used his gloves and said they worked fantastically!

Yarn color and maybe some substitutions

Well I haven't taken any more pictures since glove number 2 and I are fighting but will possibly make up today on the train ride home.

Some asked which yarn I'm using (the last picture is the super secret picture at work a couple of entries down) and it's: Jo Sharp DK Wool in the color "Ink". It's an interesting color. When I bought it it looked steel gray but in some lights it has almost a purplish tone.

I opted not to do a stripe since I didn't want to find another color to go with it and I'm still a little peeved I couldn't find a dark green varigated yarn which was my first idea (to get a little camoflage thing going).

ALSO it really cold in my office so I wore my one finished glove for awhile one day and they weren't the greatest for keeping my hands warm. So I think it might be the whole glove vs. mitten principle. I like mittens because all my little fingers stay together and are warm versus gloves where all my fingers are all stretched apart then wrapped up. Which all leads me to the fact that on the second glove I think I'm going to make half fingers for the thumb, pointer, and middle finger and then wrap the other two together in a bigger whole. Does that make sense?

I'm about half way done with the ribbing so that's still a little ways away if anyone wants to jump up and yell "bad idea!"

:)

Done... and starting

And now I have 2 gloves :) I'm quite happy with how they turned out:

My fiance stared longingly at my gloves while I was making them... so since our anniversary is next month I decided to make him a pair as well. They are Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran. He wants the same green stripe I have so I'm going to just use the Andrean silk for the stripes.

Done!

There is my glove. I am finished with both but I couldn't figure out how to take a good pic of both hands at once. It is black Wool of the Andes from Knit Picks. I am going to make another pair using the colors in the pattern.
